Summer Staff FAQ’s

Whats it like to work on Summer Staff?

It’s an incredible experience and bonds form deeply as our team truly works together to make Camp Blessing happen. Lots of staff returns to camp year after year. At the same time we welcome about 50-60% new staff each summer. Most people leave deeply impacted by their time and form bonds that can only happen when you are serving in the name of Christ.

Will I get paid?

Most definitely, our rate for new staff is $1,750 for 10 weeks.

Do I need to have experience working with people with special needs?

No, we will give you in-depth instruction and you’ll be surrounded by scores of other counselors and our year round staff who will coach and guide you.

Who can apply?

All summer staff will have completed their first year of college.

Is my room and board covered?

Yes we will provide meals and lodging for the summer, with the exception that meals will not be provided Saturday dinner through Sunday lunch.

Do I get time off?

Yes, you’ll be off from Saturday evening until Sunday evening. Many staff spend time in homes of other staff friends who live close by. During the week we also have time where summer staff spend time with a small group of other counselors.

What will I be doing?

You’ll be having a blast serving alongside our volunteer counselors and their special needs buddies. You may be assigned as a cabin lead, an activity leader, kitchen work, or other special duties. You will have a unique chance to lead and disciple volunteer campers as they learn what it means to serve in the name of Christ.
